Wonderland Lisboa 2026: Dates, Prices and Tips
Wonderland Lisboa is the city’s biggest Christmas market: a free fair of wooden chalets, rides and lights in Parque Eduardo VII, with a Ferris wheel, an ice rink and Santa’s house. The organisers say more than a million people visited the 2024 edition. Here are this year’s dates, last year’s hours and prices, and how to beat the queues. For the rest of the country, see Christmas markets in Portugal.
Quick answer: the 2026/27 edition is listed from 27 November 2026 to 3 January 2027 in Parque Eduardo VII, but the organisers hadn’t published hours or prices by early November. Entry is free; you pay for the Ferris wheel and most rides (€6 and €5 in 2024). Take the metro to Marquês de Pombal or Parque, and go on a weekday afternoon for the shortest queues. Last year it ran from 28 November 2025 to 4 January 2026.

Wonderland Lisboa 2026 dates
European Best Destinations and the Portuguese press list the 11th edition from Friday 27 November 2026 to Sunday 3 January 2027, with the theme “The Roots of Christmas”. By early November the organisers hadn’t posted the 2026 programme, hours or prices on their own channels, so treat the dates as very likely rather than final. In 2025 the fair was run by the TVI television channel and the NIU events agency, with support from Lisbon City Council.
The 10th edition ran from 28 November 2025 to 4 January 2026, and the 9th from 29 November 2024 to 5 January 2025.
Opening hours
The 2026 timetable hadn’t been published by early November. In 2025 the hours were:
- Monday to Thursday: 4pm to 10pm until 12 December, then 3pm to 10pm.
- Friday: 4pm to 11pm until 12 December, then 3pm to midnight.
- Saturday and the eve of a holiday: 10am to 11pm.
- Sunday and the 1 and 8 December holidays: 10am to 10pm.
- 24 and 31 December: 10am to 4pm.
- 25 December and 1 January: 4pm to 10pm.
Where it is and how to get there
Parque Eduardo VII is the sloping park at the top of Avenida da Liberdade, just above the Marquês de Pombal roundabout. Take the metro to Marquês de Pombal (blue and yellow lines) or Parque (blue line), both a few minutes’ walk away. See Lisbon public transport.
The Estufa Fria greenhouses are in the same park, a good stop before the fair opens on a weekday. Hotels along the Avenida are within walking distance: see places to stay on the Avenida.
What’s there
In 2025 the fair covered about 12,000 square metres in four themed blocks, with 14 attractions. Expect:
- Ferris wheel: the big draw, with views down the Avenida to the Tagus. Ride it at dusk.
- Ice rink: an outdoor rink billed as ecological, with queues at busy times.
- Santa’s house: children can meet Father Christmas and hand over a letter. Visitors can also leave a new or good used toy for the Santa Casa da Misericórdia charity.
- Rides for children: in recent years a carousel, flying chairs, a mini Ferris wheel, go-karts, trampolines, a playground and a Christmas train.
- Market and food: chalets selling crafts and gifts, plus roasted chestnuts, hot chocolate, regional wines and Christmas sweets such as bolo rei.
- Shows: costumed parades, bands playing Christmas music, and a giant Christmas tree.
In November 2025 European Best Destinations placed it fourth in its Best Christmas Markets in Europe 2026 vote.
Prices
Entry is free, and so is browsing the market. You pay for the Ferris wheel, most rides and anything you eat or buy. Prices for 2026 hadn’t been announced by early November, and 2025 prices weren’t widely published. The last full price list, from 2024, was:
- Ferris wheel: €6.
- Ice rink: free.
- Carousel, flying chairs, mini Ferris wheel, go-karts, trampolines and playground: €5 each.
- Christmas train: €4.50.
At those prices a family of four pays €24 for the wheel alone, so set a budget with children.
Best time to go
- Weekday afternoons are quietest. Weekends, the 1 and 8 December holidays and the days closest to Christmas are busiest, with long queues for the wheel and the rink.
- After dark the lights look best. The sun sets at about 5:15pm in December, so arrive at about 4pm on a weekday to see both.
- Allow two to three hours for the wheel, a skate and something to eat.
- Dress warmly: it’s all outdoors. December days are usually 14 to 17°C, but evenings feel cold and rain comes in spells. See Lisbon in winter.

The Christmas lights
In 2025 the city switched on its lights on 22 November with a 30-metre tree on Praça do Comércio and about 182km of LED lights in 46 streets and squares. They were lit from 5:30pm to 11pm (midnight on Fridays and Saturdays) into early January. Installation for 2026 began in mid-September, but the switch-on date hadn’t been announced by early October. From Wonderland, walk down Avenida da Liberdade to Rossio, then along Rua Augusta to the tree: about 2.5km, all downhill. See the Baixa.
The Rossio market
Visit Lisboa lists the Christmas market on Rossio from 13 November to 21 December 2026, two weeks before Wonderland opens. Entry is free. In 2025 it had wooden stalls selling crafts and regional food, and a small Christmas train for children.
Beyond the city
Óbidos Vila Natal, a ticketed Christmas village in a walled town about an hour north, makes an easy day trip. See Óbidos.
New Year’s Eve
In 2025 Wonderland closed at 4pm on 31 December and opened from 4pm to 10pm on 1 January. Lisbon’s free party is on Praça do Comércio, with music from about 9:30pm and fireworks over the Tagus at midnight. Glass bottles aren’t allowed, and in 2025/26 the metro closed at the usual 1am. If the listed dates are right, the last day of Wonderland is Sunday 3 January 2027. See New Year’s Eve in Portugal.
Plan it: find a place to stay in the Baixa to walk to the lights and the New Year party, book a Lisbon food tour for a winter afternoon, or end the night at a fado show.
