The Best Hotels in Albufeira (Every Budget)
Albufeira is the Algarve’s busiest resort, with a huge choice of hotels: family all-inclusives with water slides, adults-only escapes on the cliffs, beachfront apartments and simple guesthouses in the old town. Here are the best hotels in Albufeira for every budget and type of holiday.
Quick answer: for families, the all-inclusive Jupiter Albufeira (water slides and kids’ club) or Muthu Clube Praia da Oura. For couples, the adults-only Sol e Mar (right on the beach) or Rocamar (on the cliffs). For a central stay with a rooftop pool, Hotel Indigo. On a budget, Hotel Baltum in the old town. For five-star luxury, see our luxury hotels in Albufeira.

Why stay in Albufeira
Albufeira has more beaches within easy reach than almost anywhere else on the coast, from the busy town beach to the long red cliffs of Falésia. It is central, so day trips east to Faro and Tavira or west to Carvoeiro and Lagos are all manageable. And it has something for every budget, which is why it suits big groups and families with different needs.
Where to stay in Albufeira
- Old town: pretty whitewashed streets, Praia dos Pescadores and Penéco beaches, restaurants and bars. Walk everywhere.
- The Strip (Avenida Sá Carneiro, Montechoro): bars and clubs, lively until late. Great for groups; not for light sleepers.
- Praia da Oura and Santa Eulália: beaches east of the centre, popular with families.
- Falésia and Galé: long beaches and quieter resorts a short drive away.

Getting there and around
- From Faro airport: about 35–40 minutes by car on the A22, which has been toll-free since January 2025.
- By train: Albufeira-Ferreiras station is about 6km north of town, so you need a bus or taxi to the centre. Change at Tunes for trains to and from Lisbon.
- By bus: Rede Expressos and FlixBus coaches from Lisbon stop at Albufeira’s bus station, a short taxi ride from the old town.
- Locally: taxis and ride-hailing apps are easy to find. A car helps if you stay at Falésia, Galé or Salgados.
When to go
June to September is beach season, with August the busiest and priciest month. May and late September are warm and calmer. Winter is mild, many hotels stay open at lower rates, and the town puts on a big New Year’s Eve party by Praia dos Pescadores.
Booking tips
- Check the location carefully: some “Albufeira” hotels are a drive or shuttle ride from the beach or town.
- The Strip is loud: avoid it if you have young children or want early nights.
- New night rules: since late May 2026, bars close at 3am, clubs at 5am, and minimarkets and off-licences at 11pm. A local code of conduct also brings fines of €300 to €1,500 for walking around town in swimwear.
- Hills: the old town is steep in places, with steps down to the beach. Ask for a lift if you have a buggy or limited mobility.
- All-inclusive makes sense with kids; otherwise, Albufeira’s restaurants are great value. Try grilled sardines, clams and cataplana.
- Book early for July and August, and look at May, June and September for better prices.
- From Faro airport: about 35–40 minutes. See Faro airport transfers.
