Lisbon Airport Hotels: The Closest Hotels with Free Shuttles
Early flight, late arrival or a short layover? Lisbon’s airport is unusually close to the city, but sometimes it’s easiest to sleep right next to it. Here are the best Lisbon airport hotels, with shuttle information, plus a smart alternative a few metro stops away.
Quick answer: the closest are the Meliá Lisboa Aeroporto (with a free shuttle every 15 minutes from 4am and breakfast from 4am) and Star inn Lisbon Airport (a 5–10 minute walk to Terminal 1). For value, ibis Styles Lisboa Aeroporto (free shuttle). For more choice of restaurants, stay in Parque das Nações, a few stops away on the metro.

Why stay by the airport
Lisbon’s Humberto Delgado Airport sits inside the city, so most travellers can simply stay in the centre. An airport hotel makes sense when your flight leaves before the metro starts running, when you land after midnight, or when you just want to sleep without carrying bags up Lisbon’s hills. The hotels below are all within a few minutes of the terminals.
The best airport hotels
1. Meliá Lisboa Aeroporto
The former TRYP Lisboa Aeroporto, a few minutes’ walk from Terminal 1, with a free shuttle every 15 minutes from 4am until midnight, breakfast from 4am for early flights, and a spa with pools. The top pick for early departures. Check prices
The spa has pools, a hot tub, a sauna and a Turkish bath, which is welcome after a long-haul flight. There are also outdoor pools, one for adults and one for children. It’s a large business hotel, so it works for families and groups too. Check whether breakfast is included in your rate.
2. Star inn Lisbon Airport
A simple, modern hotel a 5–10 minute walk from Terminal 1, with a free scheduled shuttle (though walking is usually quicker). Good value. Check prices
Rooms are compact and practical. If you’re travelling light, it’s probably the quickest hotel to the departures hall on foot.
3. ibis Styles Lisboa Aeroporto
About 1km away in Prior Velho, with a free airport shuttle. Bright, friendly and budget-friendly. Check prices
One of the newer hotels around the airport, opened in 2024. The shuttle is for guests and runs around the clock on a set timetable, but seats are limited, so book yours with the hotel a day or two before.
4. Holiday Inn Express Lisboa Aeroporto
Under 2km away in Prior Velho, with breakfast included and free outdoor parking, which is handy if you’re returning a hire car the next morning. It has run a paid shuttle to the terminal, so check the current times and charge with the hotel when you book. Check prices
5. Radisson Blu Lisbon (Campo Grande)
About 2km away, 100m from the metro, so it’s easy to get into the city too. The hotel has offered a free morning airport shuttle by appointment, so confirm current times when you book. Check prices
The smart alternative: Parque das Nações
Just a few stops from the airport on the red metro line (or 5–10 minutes by taxi), Lisbon’s riverside district has more restaurants and things to do, including the Oceanário. Try the Meliá Lisboa Oriente or the good-value Moxy Lisboa Oriente. See Parque das Nações.
Oriente station is also a major rail hub, with fast trains to Porto and the Algarve. That makes Parque das Nações a good base if you’re flying in and heading straight out by train the next morning. In the evening, walk the flat riverside promenade towards the Vasco da Gama Bridge. See the Oceanário guide.
Do you need an airport hotel?
- Lisbon’s airport is close: about 20 minutes by taxi or 25–40 minutes by metro to the centre. For most flights, staying in the city is fine.
- Book an airport hotel for flights before about 8am, late-night arrivals or a short layover.
- Allow time for queues: the new EES border checks can mean long waits. See Portugal entry requirements.
Metro times and early flights
The metro usually runs from about 6:30am to 1am. If you need to be at the airport before about 6am, you’ll need a taxi, a ride-hailing car or a hotel shuttle. Late arrivals after 1am face the same problem in reverse, which is when a hotel by the terminal really pays off.
Practical tips
- Check your terminal: most flights use Terminal 1. Some low-cost airlines use Terminal 2, which is linked to Terminal 1 by a free shuttle bus. Allow extra time if you’re flying from there.
- Book shuttles ahead: some hotel shuttles need a reservation, especially very early in the morning.
- Breakfast: if you leave before breakfast starts, ask for a breakfast bag the night before.
- Taxis: official taxis wait outside arrivals, and Uber and Bolt pick up from a set area. From 15 October 2026, taxis from the airport into Lisbon charge fixed fares of about €16 to €23, depending on the zone and the time, for up to four people with luggage. See Uber vs Bolt vs taxi.
- Tourist tax: hotels in Lisbon add a city tourist tax of €4 per person per night (under-13s are free). Prior Velho is in the neighbouring municipality of Loures, where the rules can differ, so check the total price when you book.
Food near the airport
The area around the airport is mainly offices and roads, so don’t expect much on the doorstep. Eat in your hotel, take the metro a few stops to Parque das Nações for riverside restaurants, or head into town for a proper meal before an early night.
