Porto Airport Hotels: Closest Stays, Shuttles and Tips
Early flight, late landing or one night between planes? Porto’s airport is about 30 minutes from the centre by metro, but the trains only run from about 6am. Here are the closest Porto airport hotels, which ones run a shuttle, and when it makes more sense to stay on the metro line or by the sea.
Quick answer: the closest is the Park Hotel Porto Aeroporto, a 5-minute walk from the terminal with breakfast from 4.30am. The AP Aeroporto Porto (the former OPO Hotel), about 500 metres away, runs a free 24-hour shuttle if you book it. For more restaurants, stay near a metro line E stop such as Trindade, or by the beach in Matosinhos.

Do you need an airport hotel?
Francisco Sá Carneiro airport is about 15km north of the city, and for most flights staying in the centre is fine. Metro line E (violet) runs from roughly 6am to 1am, and a taxi takes 20 to 30 minutes. An airport hotel makes sense when your flight leaves before about 8am, when you land after the last train at about 12.40am, or when you have a short layover.
The closest hotels
1. Park Hotel Porto Aeroporto
The hotel calls itself the closest to the airport. It sits across the road from the terminal in Maia, about 5 minutes away on foot. It has 143 rooms, a restaurant and breakfast from 4.30am to 11am. Botica metro station, one stop from the airport on line E, is less than 100 metres away.
Some booking sites list a paid shuttle, but the hotel’s own site doesn’t mention one, so ask the hotel if you need a lift. The roads here aren’t built for walkers, so ask reception for the pavement route. You can also leave a car in its outdoor car park while you travel, for a fee.
2. AP Aeroporto Porto
The former OPO Hotel Porto Aeroporto, bought by the Portuguese group AP Hotels & Resorts at the end of 2025 and renamed in early 2026. It’s about 500 metres from the terminal, a 5-minute walk, with 64 rooms and Botica station next door.
The free shuttle runs 24 hours a day if you book it in advance by phone, WhatsApp or email, and picks up on level -1 of the airport’s indoor car park. An express breakfast runs from 4am to 6am (book ahead) and the buffet from 6am to 10am. Both cost extra on room-only rates. Outdoor parking is free for guests, subject to space.
3. Stay Hotel Porto Aeroporto
A simple budget hotel with 102 rooms, about 950 metres from the terminal, so allow 12 to 15 minutes on foot. Breakfast runs from 4am to midday, and snacks are available around the clock. Booking sites list an airport shuttle, but the hotel doesn’t publish times or prices, so ask the hotel.
What about Moxy or ibis?
At the time of writing, neither has a hotel by Porto airport. The ibis hotels in the area are in the city centre, the São João area and Gaia.

Prices change with the season. As a rough guide in 2026, the airport hotels often cost about €70 to €120 a night for a double, a four-star in Matosinhos about €90 to €160, and a five-star such as The Lince Santa Clara €230 or more in summer.
Stay on metro line E instead
If your flight leaves after about 8am, staying in the city is usually the better choice. Line E runs from the airport into Porto with no changes, so pick a hotel near one of its stops. A Z4 ticket costs €2.30, plus €0.60 for a blue Andante card, or tap a contactless bank card for €2.30.
- Trindade (Baixa): the main interchange in the centre, about 30 minutes from the airport. The Stay Hotel Porto Centro Trindade is a few steps from the station. See the Baixa or places to stay in central Porto.
- Casa da Música (Boavista): flatter and quieter, with larger modern hotels, and served by five metro lines including E. See Boavista or hotels in Boavista.
Porto is steep, so check the walk from the station before you book. See where to stay in Porto.
The beach option: Matosinhos and Vila do Conde
Matosinhos, about 10km from the airport, has a long sandy beach, surf schools and the grilled-fish restaurants of Rua Heróis de França. The Eurostars Matosinhos is on that street, near the beach, with an indoor pool and spa. It doesn’t mention a shuttle, and parking costs about €29 a day. By metro, take line E to Senhora da Hora and change to line A for Matosinhos Sul. See places to stay in Matosinhos or the Matosinhos guide.
Further north, Vila do Conde has broad beaches and a historic centre, about 20 minutes from the airport by taxi. The Lince Santa Clara is a five-star hotel in its hilltop convent, open since 2024. By metro, take line E to Verdes and change to line B northbound. See Vila do Conde and the beaches near Porto.

- Queues: the new EES border checks can mean long waits on arrival. See Portugal entry requirements.

Food near the airport
The area around the terminal is mostly roads and car parks. The Park Hotel and AP Aeroporto Porto both have restaurants, and the AP serves dinner from 7pm to 10pm if you book. For more choice, ride the metro into town or take a taxi to the fish restaurants of Matosinhos.
